Our Chapter

	In 2001 a small group of Safari Club International members living in Australian had discussions and resolved to form a local chapter and to apply to SCI, Tucson for chapter membership. In September 2002 we were granted affiliation with SCI as the 'Down Under' Chapter. Our chapter is incorporated in the State of NSW. We are currently the only active chapter of Safari Club International in Australia.
	The Down Under Chapter membership conducts general meetings every 3 months and our AGM is conducted usually in October. Since the Chapters' inception we have held an annual gala event, our Convention and Hunting Expo, the next being the 28th February and 1st March 2009. The Convention brings together chapter members from far and wide along with interested overseas visitors and guests. There are extensive displays of hunting firearms, clothing and equipment and an exhibition of taxidermy. Outfitters from Australia, Africa, New Zealand and elsewhere are on hand to assist members to plan their next hunts. The Hunting Expo is open to the public and persons interested in the potential benefits of membership of SCI are welcome to attend.
